The majority of dogs that we bring into rescue cost us hundreds of dollars in veterinary costs, and those are the healthy ones! If they need to be treated for heartworms, that will cost us an additional $250-$400 for treatment, depending on where the dog is located. And, unfortunately, there are always a couple dogs each year with injuries that incur medical costs of closer to $1000. We treat each dog as if it were our own and do not believe in turning away a dog because of what it may cost us medically, but in order to keep taking in dogs, we rely on the generosity of our donors.
